Back from the Bahamas

Back in January when we were snowbound and home with a newborn, Scott and I decided to go on a real vacation. Most of our past trips were made with the purpose of racing and/or visiting family, so we both decided that a vacation with the only purpose of being fun was in order. To me, a real vacation involves absolutely no cooking or cleaning and it must have a beach. We wanted to bring the kids so we looked for a place with short, direct flights at a kid friendly resort. What we came up with is the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. We had a great time and are so glad we went.
The resort was absolutely massive and at first was a bit overwhelming, but once we (or Scott with his Eagle Scout map skills) figured out the lay of the land, it was great. Tons of stuff to keep us entertained and even indoor options to give us pale folks a break from the sun.
Here are a few highlights from our trip:
The beach! It was Adelaide's first trip. At first she wasn't so sure of the sand, but after a while she really turned into a beach baby.
Elena was very entertained by making sand castles, rolling in the sand, seashell hunting, and swimming. Scott is the kind of person that can't sit still, so he was happy to have a playmate.
Here is where Adelaide spent most of the trip, in her stroller. She was so content just to hang out because there was always something interesting to look at.
The aquariums at Atlantis are just incredible. We had lots of fun touring them.

On the boat out to Blue Lagoon on Salt Cay. Check out my new sunglasses. They are my attempt at being fashionable. I definitely still feel like I am in "I just had a baby mode" and had to go out and buy new (bigger) summer clothes for this trip.

Elena and I at our Dolphin Encounter on Blue Lagoon. At first she was a little nervous, but then she really warmed up to Princess (our dolphin who was 44 yrs old).
Adelaide checking out some conch in a touchtank. She was a hit at the resort and just about everyone we passed had to comment on her, especially that crazy hair. One woman actually asked us if we dyed the ends brown.
Atlantis has a huge waterpark, but we didn't do much besides the toddler friednly lazy river.

And I love that hair. Love!!!
