Feeling good

I have lost track of how many ART visits I have had, but I would say it is around 8 or 9 and things are improving with each visits. My chiropractor has encouraged me to get out there and really start running again. It has been hard to find the time, but my new goal is to run 4 times per week. Running on Saturday and Sunday is easy, but during the week is more difficult. The morning and evenings are hard with the kids and Scott's work schedule, and since I refuse to run with the baby jogger, the easiest thing will be for me to run on the treadmill at the YMCA 2 times/wk.

We made it out running yesterday as a family since Scott pushed the jogger which is a good plan since it slows him down a bit. He is a really good sport and lets us go at a snail's pace for my MAF running.

Proof I ran! I made Scott take a picture of me. I still have 10lbs to lose to return to pre-baby weight, but I honestly don't care. Breastfeeding is still making me super hungry and I have noticed that if I don't eat enough during the day, I can't fall asleep at night.
Also, you may notice that we are total dorks wearing the same race shirt. It was an accident and it is hard enough to get out the house with the kids, neither of us cared enough to go change. I can't even express how awesome it is for Scott and I to be out running together again. It has been years, mostly because of my stupid injury.

I also met with my personal trainer yesterday and she just couldn't believe what a transformation ART has been for me. She saw me prior to my ART sessions so she saw how screwed up I was and couldn't perform basic movements. But yesterday, things were great and we were swinging kettlebells, flipping tires, and doing all sorts of other fun stuff. There is a beginner kettlebells class every Saturday morning that I will start attending. I feel like this type of functional strength training is exactly what my body needs; teaching my body to once again work as a unit of many planes of motion. The kettlebells definitely have a learning curve to using them properly and I feel so uncoordinated right now, but in time I think the investment in learning will really pay off. I woke up a little sore this morning, but feel amazing. Here is a picture of a kettlebell in case you don't know what they are.

Rebecca!!!!! I am so dang excited for you!!! So great that you are able to run and enjoy it with your family and not be tied down by injury after all these years! :) I know ART isn't the cure for everything but darn it if it didn't do the trick for you and I! Awesome!!

So glad you are making process! I am cracking up at the race t-shirt and it's so good to see you running out there! I'm excited to run with you. Where is this trail? Want to join my running group that meets on the weekends? It's a great group!

I had no idea kettleballs were so technical. I just thought you threw them around. That problably means i'd kill myself with them.

So glad you are getting back out there. You've certainly paid your dues and deserve lots of pain free running!
