I was expecting this, but not so early

Elena has said 2 things in the past week that I expected to hear at some point, but definitely not at 3 yrs of age.

1. Elena hates cleaning up and I really don't blame her. Cleaning is not fun and I despised cleaning as a child; my parents often called my bedroom a pig sty. The other day I asked Elena to clean up some blocks in her playroom and she told me no. I then told her "That you have to clean up, we are a team and we need to work on this together." Her response was "If you make me clean that up, I won't love you anymore!"

2. Elena is obsessed with painting. She can easily sit down and paint 25 pictures at a time. And the only reason she stops at 25 is because I tell her ran out of paper. She has this new glitter paint which she loves so I told her that she should ask Santa for more sparkle paint. Her response was "Santa is not real, he is pretend." So I ask her where she heard that, and she told me "I just made that up, I was joking".

Here is Elena during a marathon painting session

The whole "I won't love you anymore" is just brilliant. Straight to a mom's heart.

It's only been a little over a year ago that Ryan told us he didn't love us anymore and wanted to live in a different house from us. I wanted to ball up and cry. As he's gotten older "I hate you", "I wish I never found you as my mom", "I won't ever love you again", just comes out every time he gets mad at us.

Good for you for not freaking out when she said Santa was not real.

Cracks me up! How do they grow up so fast??? That's awesome she loves to paint; maybe you have a budding artist on your hands!

Obviously a little behind the times, but just now catching up with your blog. But, geez, yeah... way earlier to hear that stuff than I'd expect. Very cool that you have a little artist!
